Hi, I’m Robert Blanchard for The SAS Academy for Data Science. Welcome to the Big Data Programming and Loading learning module.
Big data is a popular term used to describe the exponential growth, availability, and use of information, both structured and unstructured. For example, did you know that nearly 700 million payment card transactions made each day? Or that there are more than 4,000 tweets sent every second? The amount of data generated each day is increasing and so is the need to extract useful information from that data. Its essential to have the skills and know-how to use tools designed to handle big data. In this module you’ll learn how to: Understand the Hadoop infrastructure, including ways to programmatically interact with the data inside of Hadoop. Experience how SAS technology interacts with Hadoop, including the SAS DS2 programming language, and work with a variety of SAS in-memory statistics procedures.
The courses in this module prepare you to take the second of two exams that are required to earn the SAS Certified Big Data Professional Using SAS 9 credential. As you study, be sure to take advantage of all the features of the Academy! Access all the SAS software you need for these courses by using the Virtual Lab Reservation System. Join the SAS Academy for Data Science online community to ask questions and share your tips with your peers. SAS Certification practice exams are available through Pearson Vue. Information on how to purchase these exams is in the Virtual Learning Environment. Best wishes on this part of your journey to becoming a SAS Certified Big Data Professional!
